Social Security Schemes

Tamil Nadu is a pioneer at the National level in implementation of the Social Security Schemes.

The Social Security Pension Schemes are extended to all the vulnerable sections of the society such as senior citizens, differently abled persons, widows, agricultural labourers, poor farmers, deserted wives, unmarried women of the age of 50 years and above who are destitute and poor.

Currently, the Government is granting Rs.1,000/- per month as pension uniformly under all pension schemes.

Considering the need of the old age & differently abled pension, the Government has allocated Rs.4307.56 crore in 2021-22. As on 28-06-2021, a total of 33.94 lakh beneficiaries are benefited under various schemes.
